The class discussion was most likely about the slavery and indentured servants topic. We were comparing the two groups together. My grade is Proficient but I would have Excelling if the question I had asked was more educational. If I would have asked an educational question than my progress would be excelling and that alone is good enough to show my participation in class discussions. This falls into the category: Verbal Expression.
